Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Scones

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Scone RecipeDeliciously sweet pumpkin scones with chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar icing are going to become our Thanksgiving morning tradition.

The hard part is going to be not filling up on them before the turkey. This recipe makes about 40 small scones, I always eat 2 in a sitting.

  • 4.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 can pumpkin (15oz)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
    Icing Ingredients
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 teaspoon water

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Step 1. Cream together the butter and both types of sugar.

Step 2. Add the pumpkin, vanilla, and eggs and mix together.

Step 3. Add the dry ingredients; flour, baking soda, salt and spices and mix together.

Step 4. Fold in the chocolate chips

Step 5. Spray cookie sheets with non-stick cooking spray or line them with parchment paper. Using a small scoop, scoop mixture into mounds on the cooking sheets. I did 2 rounds of baking for these, totaling 3 cookie sheets full. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Step 6. In a separate bowl, mix the confectioners sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and water. Then drizzle icing over scones, and remove from cookie sheet to cool.

These scones are so delicious and work for either breakfast or dessert, or BOTH! Enjoy!
